      Allen Sun - violin

Allen was formerly a violinist with the Shanghai Opera House Orchestra and Shanghai Radio Symphony Orchestra.  He was also head of the Fudan University Chamber Orchestra (one of the oldest and most selective universities in China).  Allen received his Master of Art and Science from NYU.

 

 

Diang Tang - piano

Diana is a professionally trained classical pianist.  She received her Master of Arts from Teachers College Columbia University.  She studied teaching with Dr. Lenore Pogonowski, co-author of MMCP Interaction—a book on the instruction and study of music (Manhattanville Music Curriculum Program).  Dr. Hadassah Sahr was her piano teacher. Diana is a Member of Music Teachers National Association (MTNA).

Diana is a private piano instructor-- she emphasizes finger technique in the study of piano. She believes deeply in the power of music and its place as a core part of children’s education.  She instructed her own son at the age of 4, who many years later used a piano performance recording as part of his successful admission’s application to Cornell University.

                                        Gina Morgano - voice

Gina Morgano is a classically trained mezzo-soprano who loves musical theater. Cross-training between genres and applying stylistic nuance in a healthy way is her specialty. Gina holds degrees in vocal performance from Northwestern University (Vocal honors, Certificate in Music Theatre) and San Francisco Conservatory of Music (Voice, Opera, Baroque Music and Music Theatre departmental honors). She recently made her Lincoln Center solo debut singing with National Chorale at Avery Fisher Hall. She believes that music makes the world brighter and loves sharing her time with such organizations as Sing for Hope and Vocal Ease. Students of all ages and levels are welcome to join this positive and uplifting studio. 

                                 David Koch - guitar

David set off as a guitarist late in his collegiate career at Indiana University, where he was a minor in music.  His graduate studies were in jazz theory at the Eastman School of Music. In the thirty years of playing in and around NYC, David has worked just about every conceivable musical situation: house band, Caesar’s Palace, Atlantic City, touring musician with the Lou Vette Jackson Blues Band, (featured in the documentary; only the righteous Shall Sing the Blues) countless sideman jobs including for singer Gloria Redhorse featuring Jaco Pastorious on bass. David’s guitar teachers include Howard Morgen, Gene Bertoncini, and Tuck Andress.

Tim Mobley - chess

Mr. Tim Mobley is one of our instructors have worked with and/or continue to work with students from: P.S. 6; P.S. 158; P.S. 212 (Midtown West Magnet School); Rudolf Steiner (Waldorf School); The West Side Home School Coop as well as many others in NYC.
